Together with the Blue Sun series and the singular "2 Figures", the Trees Series all come from the same period and echo similar motifs -namely the sun, desolate backdrops, and isolated wispy characters. They seem to say the same thing: the preceding years were filled with anguish and strife with her husband's mental illness, but something broke through and these paintings showing the light at the end of the tunnel.
